As you know, earlier this year Council approved a Zoning Amendment for the vacant lot located in Hunt Club Park for a future Violence Against Women Housing Initiative (VAW).
The approved proposal is for a new transitional housing facility that would provide a safe, supportive home for Inuit women and children. The proposal includes:

A two-and-a-half story building, 13 units, up to 30 residents

10 onsite parking spaces
I wanted to provide an update to the community to advise that an official ground breaking for the site will be taking place on Thursday October 16th at 1pm. Following the ground breaking, construction will begin in earnest late this fall. I will provide any construction update to the community as they become available.
