City crews continue to respond to the impacts of this week’s severe thunderstorms, including power outages, localized flooding, downed trees, and debris. Crews have made significant progress clearing roads, restoring services, and addressing priority safety concerns, and recovery efforts remain ongoing.
With Environment and Climate Change Canada’s heat warning still in effect, residents are encouraged to take precautions to stay cool and hydrated, particularly older adults, young children, and those with underlying health conditions. If you or someone you know is without power, please make a plan to stay cool by visiting an air-conditioned public space or one of the City’s cooling locations. Ottawa Public Health has an interactive map to help residents find cooling options and other places to find relief: https://www.ottawapublichealth.ca/en/public-health-topics/extreme-heat-and-humidity.aspx.
If you need to report a non-emergency issue, such as basement flooding or a downed tree, please contact 3-1-1 (online reporting is encouraged where possible). As always, call 9-1-1 if you are experiencing an emergency or an immediate threat to life or safety.
Thank you to City crews, Hydro Ottawa, emergency responders, and everyone working tirelessly to support our community. I also want to thank residents for their continued patience and cooperation as recovery efforts continue.
