Oct. 27 Kemp Park Drainage Improvements: Community Open House

Oct 1, 2025 | Community Events, News Updates

Residents are invited to learn more about upcoming drainage improvements in the Kemp Park neighbourhood at a public open house on Monday, October 27th from 6-8 PM at Fred Barrett Arena (3280 Leitrim Road).

The City of Ottawa is planning comprehensive drainage system upgrades to address ongoing water management issues in the community. The project will include rehabilitating drainage infrastructure, re-establishing ditches, and replacing roadway and driveway culverts along Robert Kemp Street, Kemp Drive, Elma Street, Orville Kemp Street, Melva Avenue, Doris Avenue, and the west side of Bank Street.

Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026 and wrap up by summer 2027. Robinson Consultants has been retained as the design firm for the project.

The open house will feature preliminary design drawings and City staff will be available to answer questions and discuss individual property concerns. This is a drop in format with no formal presentation, so residents can attend at their convenience. Comment forms will be available at the event and online afterward.

For those unable to attend, project information is available at ottawa.ca/KempPark  or by contacting the City Project Manager Joseph Lolli at 613-580-2424 ext. 21679 or joseph.lolli@ottawa.ca.

The improvements aim to mitigate the drainage challenges that have long affected the Kemp Park community, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and spring snowmelt.
