Engagement Opportunity – Next Phase of the Transportation Master Plan

Jun 20, 2024 | News Updates

The City has launched consultation for the Transportation Master Plan – Part 2. You can now see the  results of the 2022 Origin-Destination household travel survey, and have your say on the future of transportation in Ottawa by completing two surveys on the Transportation Master Plan project page.

The Transportation Master Plan (TMP) is the City’s blueprint for planning, designing, and operating its walking, cycling, transit and vehicular networks in the decades to come. Together, we have important decisions to make to help Ottawa become the most liveable mid-sized city in North America.

Ottawa has grown into a city of one million residents. Over the next two decades, Ottawa will gain approximately 400,000 new residents and 160,000 new jobs. With that kind of growth, we need to plan for a flexible, dependable, safe and efficient transportation network for people, vehicles and goods to move through our city.

Residents are invited to provide input on the transportation challenges they experience when travelling by car or transit, as well as their transportation investment priorities. The City will also host an online virtual public engagement on Wednesday, June 26 from 6pm to 8pm. To register and to find out more information about the project, please visit https://engage.ottawa.ca/transportation-master-plan

Fill out the surveys before August 30, and sign up for updates at https://engage.ottawa.ca/transportation-master-plan

Residents are also invited to review the Transportation Trends Report presenting results from the 2022 Origin-Destination survey. This survey provides a snapshot of residents’ daily travel, including trip origins and destinations, modes of travel, and trip purposes. Key findings are summarized in the Transportation Trends Highlights document. Finally, the Needs, Opportunities and Uncertainty Report  discusses the various trends that may impact future travel activity, as well as the approach that will be used for forecasting future travel demand in the next phase of the study.

Get involved! Transportation planning decisions affect all of us, no matter how you move through the city!
