Albion Road Traffic Calming Measures between Lester Rd & Bank St

Feb 28, 2024 | News Updates

I am pleased to announce that permanent Traffic Calming Measures are coming to Albion Rd in the Spring of 2025.

As many of you will recall, the City undertook an Area Traffic Management Study on Albion Rd in 2018. This study was secured as a condition of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino filing their Site Plan to expand their site, recognizing the potential impacts to local traffic. However, there was no funding assigned to the implementation of the recommended measures.

I am happy to say that this year we have secured funding to implement some of the proposed measures including:

  • Implementation of a speed table between Aladdin Lane and Baden Avenue.
  • Implementation of a new raised pedestrian crossover Level 2 Type “B” pedestrian crossover on Albion Road, connecting to the Sawmill Creek Pathway.
  • Implementation of curb radii reductions at the northeast and northwest quadrants at the intersection at Albion Road and Lester Road.

In addition to the Traffic Calming Measures, OC Transpo will also be adding two new bus stops along with bus pad/shelter pad as required on Albion Road between Maple Key Private and Queensdale Avenue.

This work is set to be tendered this spring with construction beginning this summer.
