Following concerns raised by residents regarding pedestrian crossing times at the intersection of Hunt Club Road and Albion Road, our office worked with City staff to request a review of the intersection operations, particularly for the north/south crossings across Hunt Club Road.
Staff completed a pedestrian study on May 12, 2026 during all peak travel periods. The review found that pedestrians were generally able to complete their crossings within the current signal timing. However, recognizing the close proximity of the senior residence and nearby shopping plaza, we requested for staff to lower the pedestrian walking speed used at this intersection. This change will provide a few additional seconds during the flashing “Don’t Walk” phase to help residents complete crossings more comfortably and safely.
We also raised the possibility of implementing a fully protected left-turn phase at the intersection. City staff from the Road Safety group are continuing to review that request as part of their assessment process.
Thank you to everyone who brought forward concerns and feedback regarding this intersection. Community input helps us continue advocating for safer and more accessible streets for all residents.
