Our office continues to work with the applicants for the Larga Baffin facility that will be located at 1470 Hunt Club Road. As many of you will recall, the City granted planning approval for the project on November 6, 2024, and the current site plan approval remains valid until November 6th, 2027.
Since the approval, residents may have noticed some small works occurring on site in preparation for construction, which was planned to start this spring.
However, I received an update this month from the Larga Baffin project team informing me that they are adjusting their construction timelines. Based on their updated planning, it now appears unlikely that construction will begin as originally scheduled this year or within the next one to two years. Given these revised timelines, the organization has chosen to pause construction activities and has withdrawn their application for a building permit.
The applicant still intends to move forward with the project, but this is all the information I have with regard to timelines at this time.
I will continue to maintain an open line of communication with Larga Baffin and will provide updates to residents as more information becomes available.
