The City of Ottawa’s Water Services completes preventative water main maintenance to ensure the continued efficient delivery of safe drinking water to your community.
As part of the City’s Cathodic Protection Program, the City is installing anode banks this season in the City right-of-way along streets in Gloucester-Southgate. This is a program that we run annually to help protect the City of Ottawa’s water-main infrastructure from failing prematurely and to lengthen the useful lifespan of this same piping.
There will be a contractor with Hydro-Vac trucks to do localized excavations on the lawn portion of the right of way and attach these anodes to either a property’s copper water service or a fire hydrant. All work done on the lawns is repaired and reinstated the same day as the anode installation by the same contractor. City Inspectors are on site at all times to ensure work proceeds normally and resolve any issues that may arise.
This Program will run approximately from May 2024 until September 2024. The list of affected streets is listed below:
