Big changes are coming to OC Transpo Bus Routes in our community. These changes stem from OC Transpo’s Route Review, which has been an ongoing process to better align bus service to current ridership levels as well as to prepare for the launching of the extended Trillium Line service in the spring of 2024.
Earlier this month, OC Transpo presented a series of proposed changes to the current bus network which aim to improve overall reliability and sustainability of the system. I want to thank the many residents that have taken the time to share their views on the changes impacting Gloucester-Southgate Ward. While some changes are positive, there is no doubt that service levels in certain areas will be reduced.
At first glance, the most impacted routes include Route 40, which currently serves South Keys, Greenboro and Hunt Club Park, and Route 93 which primarily services Blossom Park. Both routes are either significantly changing or being replaced entirely to better match current ridership levels and travel patterns.
While the proposed new routes have not been formally published, residents can view the proposed changes via the documents submitted to Transit Commission here.
I recognize that many people in our community rely on transit, and it is critical that buses are not only reliable, but also convenient. To that end, I want to give residents an additional opportunity to view the proposed new routes and to provide input in advance of implementation this spring.
On Thursday December 7th starting at 6:00 p.m., I will be hosting an online public forum and I invite transit riders and interested residents to come to view the proposed changes, hear a staff presentation from OC Transpo Travel Planners, and to provide input.
